About Appleby Archaeology
Appleby Archaeology is focused on practical, field archaeology. Most of
the Group's activities take place in the Appleby area but our interests
range across the whole of Cumbria. Members receive four Newsletters a
year and are entitled to attend the winter lecture programme free of charge.
Winter Lecture Programme and Summer Events
Winter lectures normally take place monthly between October and April each year in the Supper Room
of Appleby's Market Hall
Summer events take the form of evening walks and weekend
excursions into the Eden Valley area and beyond.

Training and Research
We are currently offering instruction in surveying and excavation techniques
in association with Wardell Armstrong Archaeology
through our ongoing research and project work.
In the past we have organised a biennial Summer Conference and,
wherever possible, have published Proceedings. Currently we are concentrating our efforts on Research activities.
